About Us

Our Troop began in 1966 along with the opening of Saint Mark Catholic Church in Plano, Texas, and has been in continuous existence ever since. During this period of time the troop has had Scout Masters who have given their time, talent, and personal interest in furthering of the scouting ideals. There have been over 45 Eagle Scouts who have graduated from its ranks, a testimony to the program and the commitment of its leaders, young and old. Many more will graduate within the next few years.

Troop 285 camps once per month, with themes including rock climbing, rifle and shotgun shooting, and wilderness survival. We attend summer and winter camp every year with active participation from Scouts and Leaders. Troop 285 sent a crew to Philmont in 2008 and has an active high adventure program for older scouts.
